Born in the Australian city of Brisbane, I spent many happy hours of my pre-teens sheltering from the harsh Queensland sun in my bedroom composing prize-winning essays on my sister’s portable typewriter. My overwhelming desire to leave home and explore the world resulted in abandoning my plans to study journalism at University in favour of accepting a hairdressing apprenticeship straight out of high school.
Hairdressing was my passport to travel and I never strayed far from the portable typewriter (which my sister ultimately gave to me) to faithfully record my observations of the remarkable world I encountered on my globe-trotting adventures.
Fate stepped in when I was offered an opportunity to work in New York and set me on the path to ultimately meet the man of my dreams and together we got to raise a beautiful son.
Our family of three relocated to Australia in 2018 to find our next home. When not writing about returning to Australia, the joys of parenting, the challenges of becoming a widower and navigating the gay dating scene in the digital age I’m rediscovering my country of birth.
